Basic understanding of soccer
After National anthem and greetings, the game lasts for 90 minutes. The game is divided into two sessions with 45 minutes each, unless there is a necessity of extra time or Penalty shoot out. Every match will have its pauses because of injury, cards and so on. The time taken of such things will not be included in the overall match time.
The Referee
During the match, there will be one referee on the field to whistle, to pause, to stop or to warn players. There is two more of this sort standing beyond the lines of the field to confirm the ball out and from which team or player. If a foul happens inside the 18-yard-box of the self goal post, the infield referee’s job is to award a penalty. If a foul happens beyond the 18 yard box, it will be referre’s job to give out a freekick. It is referee who decides the card based on the foul made by players.
Know about cards
In soccer, punishment for a foul is shown out through the referee by raising a yellow or a red card. Cards are like warning and it has its own serious levels, a yellow card warns a player for breaking the rules and it is usually for the first time offense. If the incident is repeated and serious, the referee can hold up a red card and the player has to leave the game and team cannot place it with a substitute instead of the red card player. The team ends up with playing 10 instead of 11 players. Two yellow cards to the same player also equal a red and receive the same treatment. A minimum of 7 players should be there on the field to continue the game.
The Ball
Soccer balls come in various sizes. The size starts from 3 and ends with 5. Size 3 is for small kids below the age of 6 and slightly increases to 4 or a medium size which will be ok to play inside office premises and up to the age of 10 and the actual size of the general football is 5 and this will be picked up by adults. The traditional and vintage football is a leather ball with laces and eventually football is made of plastic kind of material which is lighter than the old one.
The Positions
Soccer is played with 4 positions called Goal Keeper, Defender, Midfielder and Forward. Every team will have an opportunity to replace with substitutes for 3 times in a match for any position. All 4 positions are very important as the Soccer is a team game. All these positions are meant to support each other and take the ball from one corner to the other corner and to pass between other players tactically. It is said that the Soccer cannot be enjoyed from the nearest view, as he or she who is watching cannot understand the strategy better than someone who is watching from an angle where he can see all the players at once.
Defender and Midfielder tries to pass the ball the player who is playing forward as he will be nearer to the goal post and someone who has more experience in scoring a goal. There will be at least 2 forward to a play around to make sure that they make no mistake to miss the goal.
